Rylan Clarke Neal may leave Xtra Factor, hints at one-season stint and teases GBBO role

The busy presenter says it was 'just a one year thing'

Rylan Clarke Neal has hinted that he might not return to the Xtra Factor next year!

The amazingly talented busy bee, who also hosts Big Brother’s Bit On The Side, a gossip slot on This Morning, his own Channel 5 chat show plus an upcoming brand new quiz show, says he hadn’t considered staying with the spin off talent show for longer than a year!

“Personally when I signed up to do Xtra Factor I looked at it as a one year thing,’ he told The Sun. “[Matt Edmonson and I] both got our other jobs that we love and always will have hopefully.”

He added: “But we’ve both been looking at this as just a one season thing so wanted to enjoy it and take it for what it is and if we are going to go out we want to go out on a high.”

However, Rylan, who you may remember started out his career on Signed By Katie Price, says there is one thing Simon Cowell can do to make him stay on the show – offer him a hefty pay packet.

“If they offer us a couple million,” he said. “then f**k it!”

Meanwhile, Rylan may have just put himself in the frame for a role on Channel 4’s upcoming version of The Great British Bake Off by slating Mary Berry, who recently quit the show.

During his gossip slot on This Morning this week, he expressed his disbelief at the fact that – as we reported this week – the cakes supposedly baked by Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood on the show are actually prepared by other bakers.

Stunned by the news (though clearly not really as he’s now a top TV type who knows how it works!), Rylan expressed his disbelief to Holly Willoughby and Ben Shepherd.

“You know when you see Mary and Paul and they sit there and go ‘oh this week’s technical challenge is a scone’ and then Paul shows off the scones he’s made… they don’t make them!”

He added, “When Mary Berry brings a cake in, its not a Mary Berry cake!”

Oh well, Ry. You’ve been a singer and presenter. Maybe its time for you to bring out your own brand of tasty cakes.
