The 28-year-old wrote to his fans: “Getting a bit ridiculous now. Just doing my job. Enjoy the show. Coming off here for a while @Babushka starts Monday 1st May.”

It was announced that The Chase would be coming off air starting next week and fans, who we know love the show, were nothing but angry over the news.

One wrote on Twitter: “Can’t believe ITV are replacing #TheChase with some @Rylan quiz show! Surely someone’s made a petition against this terrible news.”

“I actually feel offended that my Russian heritage will be mocked on iTV with this idiotic Rylan’s show Babushka. Bring back #TheChase,” another tweeted.

A third said: “I’m gutted that #TheChase has been replaced and presented by someone I really don’t like sorry Rylan or whatever the hell your name is.”

Babushka viewers will see contestants in with a chance of winning cash prizes if they choose a Russian doll that has a smaller doll inside it.

The bubbly presenter was quick to express his excitement over his latest stint but now after a massive backlash the star has had no other choice but to leave social media.

Rylan recently slammed the rumours that the new game show would be replacing The Chase for good.

He wrote: “FYI @Babushka is NOT replacing @ITVChase. The Chase is having a month break as normal and Babushka is filling that slot. Hope you like it.”

Some fans however have supported the star and slated The Chase viewers for being “pathetic”.

One wrote: “Ignore all the moaners and complainers. The Chase always has a break! Well done on your new show and good luck.”

Another tweeted: “So #TheChase is taking a usual break & #Babushka is on in it’s place. Why are people abusing Rylan over that? Some people need to get a life.”

The showbiz presenter spoke on This Morning to clear the air with The Chase fans.

He said: “I just went to work and The Chase always has a break.

“Let me clear up these rumours in a bit alright – leave me alone! I’m just 28.”
