Rylan Clark admitted to being drunk on TV during a boozy St Patrick’s Day celebration on This Morning.

The TV presenter was filmed leading his co-hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford out of the ITV building to the nearby Studio 6 bar and restaurant on the Southbank.

“Even though we are slightly drunk now we are going to carry on with the show,” said Rylan, as they sipped pints of Guinness. “We might be seeing double after a couple of them later.”

The trio, were also celebrating Ruth’s birthday, were seen doing a jig as Irish band The Craicheads played.

“Isn’t this lovely, who’d have thought we would be in the pub for my birthday with all these lovely people,” said Ruth. “I’m a bit worn out actually after doing that Irish jig.”

The lively show won praise from viewers. “Favourite @thismorning show EVERRRR!!!!!,” wrote one fan on Twitter. “Loved it!!!@Rylan @RuthieeL @EamonnHolmes

Another Twitter user agreed. “What a great to start of the weekend. @thismorning never fails to make me laugh!”

They weren’t the only TV presenters getting merry on St Patrick’s Day. Earlier in the morning, Kate Garraway had her first tipple before 7am while filming Good Morning Britain.

After asking a cameraman to pour her a pint from the studio bar, she almost emptied the glass within 10 minutes. “I do love a Guinness,” she declared. “Drink responsibly everyone today! This is going down really well!”

She also burst into a rendition of Irish song Molly Malone, and said: “We are all Irish on St Patrick’s Day aren’t we?”

The previous week, Kate and her co-host Ben Shephard admitted to being hungover after a night out to celebrate the launch of her new book,  The Joy of Big Knickers.

Ben told viewers: “We are all a little bit blurry eyed here on the desk this morning. So bear with us. Lots of coffee flowing.”

Kate added: “We had quite a night last night didn’t we? I had a little bit of a bash. I will tell you about Ben Shephard’s ‘responsible’ drinking later.”

“I’m surprised you can remember from last night,” joked Ben.

Well, nothing wrong with a merry morning host!
