Strictly Come Dancing’s Ruth Langsford floored by injury ahead of tonight’s performance

Question mark over whether they will dance tonight

Like leaving the partner you’ve been previously loved-up and happy with for ten years, getting injured is just part of the Strictly process.

But while she and Eamonn are looking alright on the curse front so far, Ruth Langsford has been hit with a hamstring injury, just before her second performance with her partner Anton Du Beke. Wah!

Ruth and Anton are due to perform a fast-paced Charleston this weekend, but have been unable to rehearse as Ruth rests up with her leg in ice.

Ruth, 57, spilled all about her injury in a video on her Instagram, telling her followers: “Just before I went down (to the rehearsal studio) I was in my dressing room and I thought, ‘I’ll just walk through my steps and familiarise myself and make sure I know the routine,’ and I kicked my leg out, and I’ve pulled a hamstring.

“So I had to go to the physio, she wouldn’t let me do the rehearsal this afternoon, she’s told me I’ve got to ice it.”

The injury’s not likely to help Ruth’s nerves after she admitted that she felt like her feet were ‘cemented to the floor’ in week one.

“Eamonn said I knew you were really scared because I could see you taking deep breaths,” she said.

“I felt like my feet were cemented to the floor and I couldn’t feel my whole body.”

Ruth this week spoke to Strictly stalwart Louise Redknapp, who came into the This Morning and told Ruth how Strictly ‘does something’ to you.

But when it comes to her own version of the Strictly curse – which coincided with the alleged break-up between Louise and her husband Jamie Redknapp – Ruth laughs at the possibility.

“He said take her,” she joked to Zoe Ball on Strictly: It Takes Two, about Eamonn’s reaction to her partner Anton.

“Eamonn always says one man’s curse is another man’s blessing.”

Anton has been hugely complimentary about Ruth though, saying about their week one performance: “She looked lovely and from the waist up I thought she was perfect, just beautiful and elegant.

“The great thing about Ruth to me is that she looks incredible, I love her.”

One question though – what does Ruth Langsford watch when she’s stuck on the sofa, ill? Because the rest of us watch This Morning but that seems a bit like going to work?
