Ruth, 59, treated her mum Joan to a wonderful day out in London to mark her birthday – and fans toasted them both as they praised their loving bond.
Both mum and daughter were seen to lift their own glasses in celebration during their afternoon tea yesterday at posh hotel Claridge’s in one of the pics posted to Ruth’s 740,000 Instagram followers.
As well as apparently enjoying glass of something probably more refreshing than a brew, it seems the pair may also have dined out on a selection of high class sandwiches, scones and cakes.
Loose Women star Ruth wrote in the image’s caption: “Early celebration for Mum’s birthday….afternoon tea at @claridgeshotel, posh sandwiches, scones and cream, Christmas trees and a choir singing carols….perfect!”
But carols – and a round of Happy Birthday – weren’t the only songs Ruth and Joan heard this weekend. They also made a visit to the Prince Edward theatre in the West End to watch a musical.
Loved every single bloomin’ second!
Sharing a video of their view from their seats for Mary Poppins in the theatre on Insta, This Morning regular Ruth gave the show a glowing review.
“Second part of mum’s birthday surprise – omg the best show! Loved every single bloomin’ second!” she wrote.
“Every single member of the cast were amazing but big shout out to Mary Poppins @zizistrallen and Bert @charlie.stemp – both outstanding!”
Fans were elated to see how Ruth was spending her weekend.
“Making precious memories with your beautiful Mum… just so special,” commented one on Instagram.
“Enjoy your day and Happy Birthday to your Mum.”
Another person remarked: “I love that fact that you love your mum so much.”
And a third wrote: “Happy birthday Mummy Langsford! Hope you had a wonderful day.”
Earlier this year Ruth, Joan and their family suffered a very sad loss when Julia – Ruth’s elder sister – passed away.
It was confirmed last month that Julia took her own life following ‘a battle with depression‘.
