Eamonn Holmes reveals the GOOD thing about Ruth’s Strictly exit

Ruth and Anton du Beke were the seventh couple to leave Strictly

Strictly Come Dancing bade farewell to Ruth Langsford on Sunday night when she was sent home after a dance-off against Jonnie Peacock.

While missing out on Blackpool by just one week would be devastating for most star contestants, Ruth’s husband Eamonn Holmes is looking on the bright side of her going home.

How, you ask?

Well, in a rather selfish but totally understandable way!

Eamonn’s been quite vocal about the amount of time Ruth’s been spending in rehearsals with partner Anton du Beke, but now she’s been eliminated, that means Ruth will be free to spend more time with him.

Reacting to Ruth’s exit on Instagram, Eamonn said: “Well it’s #Strictly over – but no complaints. Thank u if u voted. Now I’m just looking forward to getting my darling wife and our life back (sic).”

Eamonn later posted a longer message to Twitter, saying: “Thanks to the support of you amazing folk she had an amazing run with an amazing partner.

“I am feeling a lot of love for her out there but I am also looking forward to having my wife & our life back.”

Ruth added underneath Eamonn’s remark: “And thank you my darling and our wonderful son Jack for being there to support me EVERY week. Love you both.”

Ruth and Anton had danced the foxtrot to Mack The Knife on Saturday night but found themselves in the bottom two, competing against Jonnie and Oti Mabuse.

The judges chose to save Jonnie and send Ruth home.

Ruth and Anton have remained characteristically positive about their exit, with Anton saying: “It wasn’t to be this time!

“Thanks so much for the love and continued support. Ruth, I’m so proud of you and all you achieved! Good luck to everyone going to Blackpool next week.”

Responding to Anton, Ruth told him: “Oh Partner….what an experience! Thank you for making it such fun….love you long time!”

Plenty of famous faces took to social media to share their disappointment at seeing Ruth go home.

Among them were Great British Bake Off winner Candice Brown, Gaby Roslin, Sarah Millican, and former Strictly stars James Jordan and Kristina Rihanoff.

Sorry to see you go, Ruth!
