Reality TV star ‘unexpectedly dies’ at age of 40

Dan Kay, who competed on American TV show Survivor: Gabon, died ‘unexpectedly’ on New Year’s Eve.

The 40-year-old took part in series 17 of the show where he endured 21 days in Central Africa.

Dan was a successful lawyer from Massachusetts and is survived by his two children, Reese Elizabeth Kay and Jackson ‘Jax’ Russell-Reid Kay, as well as his girlfriend Jennifer DePietro.

Police have released a statement to say that they were not treating the death as suspicious.

Jeff Probst, the host on Survivor has tweeted: “I just heard the very sad news about the sudden loss of Dan Kay of Survivor: Gabon.

“The Survivor family sends our love to Dan’s family.”

An online obituary has also been uploaded and states that he was “known for his hard work, dedication, attention to detail and strong work ethic”.

It also added: “In his free time, he enjoyed running, skiing, listening to music and attending Crossway Christian Church. Dan had a smile that could light up a room.

“His desire to be challenged and his quest for adventure led to his participation on the reality show, Survivor.”

The family man was also a devout Christian.

His girlfriend Jennifer told Radar Online: “We’re all doing fine. We’re grieving. We’re not releasing how he passed at this time.”

A memorial service for the Brookline, New Hampshire attorney will take place on Saturday, January 7 at the Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory.
