An online obituary has also been uploaded and states that he was “known for his hard work, dedication, attention to detail and strong work ethic”.
It also added: “In his free time, he enjoyed running, skiing, listening to music and attending Crossway Christian Church. Dan had a smile that could light up a room.
“His desire to be challenged and his quest for adventure led to his participation on the reality show, Survivor.”
The family man was also a devout Christian.
His girlfriend Jennifer told Radar Online: “We’re all doing fine. We’re grieving. We’re not releasing how he passed at this time.”
