Prince William’s childhood nickname for the Queen revealed

This is the cutest

The Royal Family are known by their titles but behind closed door they all have secret nicknames.

Queen Elizabeth II may be the reigning monarch, but that doesn’t mean her grandchildren haven’t come up with nicknames for her too.

It’s been revealed that as a child Prince William used to call his grandmother Gary!

Apparently when the Duke of Cambridge was a small child he couldn’t say “granny” properly, so when he fell at Buckingham Palace one day he picked another name for the Queen to grab her attention.

According to The Mirror’s Richard Kay he shouted: “Gary, Gary!” after he tripped over.

Kate and William have been heard calling each other “babe” and “poppet”, while William’s mother Princess Diana used to call him “Wombat” after they visited Australia when he was a boy.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s older children are also said to call Prince Charles “Grandpa Wales”, similar to the Queen’s nickname for George V, which was “Grandpa England”.
