Harry gushes over baby Archie despite admitting to sleepless nights

He also said he's been having sleepless nights

The Duke of Sussex has said he “can’t imagine life without his son” Archie.

Harry, who welcomed his son on May 6 with wife Meghan, visited Oxford Children’s Hospital on Tuesday and was asked about how he’s getting on with fatherhood.

The royal spoke to mum-of-two Ida Scullard, whose three-year-old son is in remission after being diagnosed with testicular cancer when he was two.

Ida told reporters: “Harry asked me if my 10-week-old daughter Ida was over the stormy period as babies are supposed to be grumpy for the first 10 weeks – and she is.

“He said he’s getting used to the baby and how Archie has fitted into family life. He said he just feels part of the family and he can’t imagine life without his son.”

Another mother Christine George, whose son James, 17, is having chemotherapy, added: “He said he had all this organised, but had a sleepless night last night – not the ideal preparation for his first day at work.”

Meanwhile, during the emotional trip, Harry was also given a gift for his son by former patient Daisy Wingrove, 13.

The little girl presented the prince with a teddy bear, which was wearing an Oxford Children’s Hospital t-shirt, and Harry appeared over the moon as he grinned.

The royal also met with some of the young patients and at one point, crouched on the floor to play with dinosaurs and later pretended to eat a balloon animal to make one of the children laugh.

The trip will also see Harry visit OXSRAD Disability Sports and Leisure Centre, which was opened 30 years ago by his mum Princess Diana.

Harry and his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, welcomed their baby boy Archie Harrison on May 6 and introduced him to the world two days later.

Harry is set to make his second overseas trip since the birth of his son next week, as he visits Rome to play in the Sentebale Polo Cup at the Roma Polo Club.

The polo match will raise money and awareness for Sentebale’s work supporting young people whose lives have been affected by HIV in southern Africa.

At the weekend, Meghan celebrated her first Mother’s Day by sharing an adorable photo of Archie’s tiny feet to Instagram.

The post was captioned: “Paying tribute to all mothers today – past, present, mothers-to-be, and those lost but forever remembered. We honor and celebrate each and every one of you.

“Today is Mother’s Day in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Kenya, Japan, and several countries across Europe. This is the first Mother’s Day for The Duchess of Sussex.”
