Will it be traditional?

| Updated:

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have announced the arrival of their first child – a son – and bookies have revealed that two names have now emerged as the joint favourites.

Betfair Spokesperson Katie Baylis said: “It’s the news the world has been waiting for for days and now that the Royal Couple have announced they have had a little baby boy, attention now turns to what the little Prince’s name will be.

“James and Alexander are the joint favourites at 7/2, both slashed from 12/1 after a flurry of bets on both names in the last few hours.

“They overtake previous favourite for a boy, Arthur which is at 6/1, with two equally traditional names Edward and Oliver at 12/1.

Speaking to reporters at Windsor earlier this afternoon, Harry confirmed that they are yet to decide on the tot’s name.

Harry confirmed he and his wife are still deciding on a name for their son, and will announce the tot’s moniker in the coming days.

He admitted: “The baby’s a little bit overdue so we’ve had a little bit of time to think about it, that’s the next bit.”

He spoke of his joy at becoming a dad, hailing the birth of his son as the “most amazing experience”.

Announcing the birth, the 34-year-old gushed: “I’m very excited to announce that Meghan and myself had a baby boy earlier this morning, a very healthy boy.

“Mother and baby are doing incredibly well. It’s been the most amazing experience I could ever have possibly imagined.

“How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension, but we’re both absolutely thrilled and so grateful for all the love and support from everybody out there.

“It’s been amazing, so I just wanted to share this with everybody…

“I haven’t been at many births, this is definitely my first birth but it was amazing, absolutely incredible.

“I’m so incredibly proud of my wife and as every father and parent would ever say, your baby is absolutely amazing, but this little thing is absolutely to die for so I’m just over the moon.”

“We’ll be seeing you guys in probably two days time as planned, as a family, so everyone can see the baby,” he beamed.
