Pregnant Gemma Atkinson reveals ’embarrassing’ start to the week

She has been suffering with "baby brain"

| Updated:

Actress Gemma Atkinson has been very open throughout her pregnancy journey, and today was no different as she revealed she had a rather disastrous Monday!

The 34-year-old confessed she accidentally overslept by two hours and was embarrassingly late for work!

The ex-Emmerdale star shared a snap of her looking rather unhappy and told fans she was having a nightmare start to the week.

She wrote: “My “It’s Monday, I slept in and was embarrassingly 2hrs late for work and I’ve not had my breakfast” face. 🙄😩 At least things can only get better!”

Gemma co-hosts the morning slot on Hits Radio, so she is usually up bright and early to be in work for 6am.

Her fellow radio presenter Gethin Jones teased her when she eventually rocked up hours late.

Sharing a video of a sheepish-looking Gemma walking through the door, the 41-year-old said: “Look what the cat dragged in. Good morning!”

Gemma, who is expecting her first child with Strictly professional dancer Gorka Marquez, told the camera: “I made it. I have showered. It doesn’t look like I have, but I have!

“I’m so sorry everyone.”

The star has admitted that since becoming pregnant she has struggled with her energy levels and keeps oversleeping.

She recently revealed on her Instagram Stories that she tried to have a 20-minute nap and woke up an hour later.

Since then, Gemma has been refreshingly honest about the ups and downs of pregnancy.

She has spoken on the struggles of continuing to exercise with her aches and pains – and “watermelon” boobs! – but insists she doesn’t feel “pressure” to look a certain way as it’s all about being healthy for her baby.

Today’s workout was done at home. I did a 30 min circuit using mainly my body weight (because my baby is heavy enough) 😂 My dumbbells were 3kg so a lot less then usual but I felt great afterwards. I’m wearing a @myzonemoves belt to make sure my heart rate stays in the “safe zone” for baby and for me. I don’t want it too high. I’ve been cleared by my doctor, midwife and Evil Steve to do these exercises and before even considering exercise when pregnant YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST GET THE GO AHEAD FROM PROFESSIONALS. It doesn’t look like a lot and being honest, for the usual me it would have just been my warm up. For pregnant me though, it was fine 😊 I’m actually enjoying training for my baby as apposed to just me and these simple moves, I’ve found have become my go to when training alone at home. Obviously every woman & every pregnancy is different. There may be some of you who are doing way more then this, some of you who are doing way less. Don’t compare yourself to anyone else. Especially when you are pregnant! Ive made that my number 1 rule! I’m just listening to my body, making note of how tired I am and making my exercise choices daily based on that. I have 2 reformer Pilates sessions next week and 2 sessions with Evil Steve and that’s enough for me. I followed this with a homemade smoothie made with almond milk, banana, spinach, peanut butter and cinnamon. It was delicious 😋🤰
