Poundland is selling cocktail-themed candles

And they're only £1 each

Value retailer Poundland is selling candles scented like some of Britain’s best-loved cocktails.

On its Instagram page, the chain shared a photo of the range and told followers it was “cocktail time”.

Shoppers have the option of four cocktail-inspired scents, although some in the comments admitted to wanting all of them.

Poundland explained in the caption: “Cocktail time! Our scented candles come in Gin & Tonic, Margarita, Pina Colada and Cosmopolitan.”

One enthusiastic follower commented: “I want alllllllll.”

Another said: “Look at these! They look so good.”

Someone else tagged a friend and wrote: “How nice are these.”

They look so good.

“I bought all four today,” confessed a fourth.

Judging by some of the comments, the cocktail candles aren’t available at every Poundland store.

“Couldn’t find them in store today,” said one disappointed shopper.

“I’ve been looking for these!” said another, adding: “No luck yet though.”

The candles, which The Sun reported cost £1 each, are not currently listed on the Poundland website.

It’s been a good few weeks for shoppers who like to freshen up their homes with scented candles.

Homeware store Robert Dyas is selling Yankee Candles for less than half price, offering the brand’s larger 538g jars – including the Bubbly and Bright and Cherry Vanilla varieties – for just £10 on its website.

The figure is less than half the normal price of £23.99, which is what they go for on the official Yankee website.

Other scents available for £10 at Robert Dyas include Cosy Up and Soft Cotton.

A product description on the company’s e-store reads: “This candle will last you for days, burning for up to 120 hours to keep your home fresh and pleasant with the delicate scent.

“This will make a great addition to your home or as a gift to a loved one.”

The major supermarkets are likewise offering the larger jar candles at a lower-than-usual price, but none are currently as low as those stocked at Robert Dyas.

Over at Asda, the 538g jars are being sold for £13.47, while at Sainsbury’s and Tesco they cost £14.
