Piers Morgan signs TWO YEAR extension with Good Morning Britain

"The Foghorn stays"

It will be music to the ears of many but cause others to rush for the remote… Piers Morgan has confirmed he’s signed a new two year contract with Good Morning Britain.

The former newspaper editor – who joined the ITV breakfast show in 2015 as a co-host alongside Susanna Reid – announced the news with his tongue firmly in cheek on Twitter today.

He wrote alongside a picture of Susanna with her head on the studio desk: “BREAKING: Bad news for Britain, even worse news for @susannareid100…. I just signed a new deal to stay on @GMB for 2 more years. #TheFoghornStays”

The news was met with a mixed reaction from viewers, with some celebrating and others commiserating.

One fan of Piers wrote that they were delighted, telling the 52-year-old he is “the best TV presenter this country ever had, you should run for prime minister.”

A third commented: “Hoorah love Piers Morgan being on that programme, and he gets better the longer he stays.”

Others posted celebratory gifs, while one asked if Piers could increase his hours to co-host the show on five days a week, rather than just his usual Monday to Wednesday.

However, another viewer said they hoped this wouldn’t be the case, as they wrote: “There’s always Thursdays and Fridays to look forward to,” when Ben Shephard takes on the role.

Others also greeted the news of Piers’ contract renewal with groans, with one writing: “Then it’s 100% BBC breakfast for me, for at least the next 2 years.”

Many felt sorry for with Susanna, with one commenting: “Poor Susanna can’t imagine the hell she’ll go through over the next two years, at least we can turn you off when you get too much.”

Piers’ TV rival, Dan Walker, who presents BBC Breakfast, was among those congratulating the outspoken star.
