Piers Morgan reveals the ONE thing that would make him return to BGT

He wants a few cars, for starters

Good Morning Britain presenter, Piers Morgan says he won’t be returning to Britain’s Got Talent – because boss Simon Cowell can’t afford him!

Speaking in a new interview with OK! magazine, the brash TV star said: “I don’t think Simon Cowell could afford me. When I was a judge the ratings were 20 million, and they’re half that now. I’m doing the maths and it doesn’t look good for Simon!”

Piers, 52, was on the ITV talent show as a judge from 2007 until 2011 when he moved to America to launch his own show.

During his time on the panel, he helped discover singer Susan Boyle who went on to sell millions of albums.

The GMB host added that if he were to return to BGT, he would be replacing Simon himself on the desk.

He said: “I’d be the new head judge if the money was right. If Simon made me an offer I couldn’t refuse I would, and frankly, looking at the performance of David Walliams, that question should come sooner rather than later!”

In another chat with Best magazine, the former journalist increased his price, adding that he’d also need Simon, 58, to “chuck in a couple of Ferraris”.

Implying he was joking and that the talent show door was now closed, Piers went on: “No, it was great fun for a period of my life, but I ran out of ways of insulting people.”

It comes after the presenter admitted his wife, Celia, 42, doesn’t tell him off when he offends the nation – opting instead to say nothing at all!

In a chat with new! magazine, he said: “It’s more the silent treatment. She’s usually very pleasant about it all. She understands my job is based purely around my opinions.

“If people agree, they tend to like you. If they don’t, they hate you! There’s no middle ground. Twitter is like a mob. Someone decides what the views should be and everyone is supposed to go along with it – no!”

Piers added to Best magazine: “If I’ve said or done something stupid, ice descends on the house.”

The pair married in 2010, and have a daughter, Elise, six.

Piers also has three sons, Spencer, 24, Stanley, 20, and Albert, 17, from his previous marriage to Marion Shalloe.

The TV host added that having a daughter has been an interesting change of pace, saying: “It’s different. My boys are like dogs, throw them out and they’ll play football all day.”
