Piers Morgan brands M&S ‘pathetic’ for launching LGBT sandwich

Piers is engaged in yet another Twitter tirade

| Updated:

Presenter Piers Morgan is at it again, and this time he’s angry at posh food chain Marks & Spencer.

The Good Morning Britain presenter has berated the classic brand on Twitter over their new LGBT themed sandwich.

Piers has slammed the sandwich as “pathetic”, and seems to accuse M&S of using the cause as an opportunity to boost profits.

The 54-year-old tweeted on Saturday morning: “Gay sandwiches? Is there no cynical virtue-signalling depth struggling companies won’t now plunge to make a profit? Shame on you ⁦@marksandspencer⁩, this is truly pathetic.”

He posted the same image and caption on Instagram.

But as per usual, his followers are divided over his spouting opinion.

One user wrote, “M&S really need a training course on diversity and inclusivity.”

A second joked, “Patronised by a sandwich. That’s a first.”

Whereas others accused Piers of being too easily offended and a “snowflake” and many argued that as some of the proceeds were going to charity, Piers should lay off the unusual sandwich.

And M&S itself even chimed in, by reinforcing the fact that some of the sales of the sandwiches will be going to a good cause.

The brand replied to Piers’ angry tweet with: “Hi Piers. We have given our popular BLT sandwich a twist to celebrate Pride and raise £10,000 for akt the national LGBTQ+ Youth Homelessness charity.”

Naturally Piers couldn’t help but reply to the corporation’s response.

He defiantly replied with: “Will there be a white male straight sandwich option, or would that be deemed offensive?”

As of yet Marks & Spencer has yet to answer his question.

Attitude magazine also tweeted Piers suggested that as the sandwich was for a great cause, perhaps he could just see it for the good it’s doing.

But Piers was quick to respond that although the charity “sounds excellent” he’d rather help it than “let struggling firms sexualise sandwiches in such a cynical, virtue-signalling manner.”

This same morning he also published another outraged Tweet claiming: “Jeez, it’s not even 9am on a bank holiday weekend Saturday morning & I’m already enraged. Why is the world going so completely PC bonkers? #GaySandwiches #UnhappyBurgers #CelebrityVictims.”

This is also not the only time he’s become irate over a food item.

Earlier this year saw him furious over Gregg’s launch of their vegan sausage roll. He pretended to vomit live on air after sampling the meat free pastry.
