Piers Morgan admits setting up his son with I’m A Celeb star Toff was ‘just a joke’

The pair have been old friends for years

We all know that Piers Morgan has been pushing some kind of a romance between his son Spencer and I’m A Celebrity winner Georgia ‘Toff’ Toffolo.

But in a new interview, Piers has admitted that he was only joking when he tried to set the pair up during a chat with Toff’s mum on Good Morning Britain last year.

The 52-year-old Good Morning Britain presenter told Star magazine: “I was just trying to get my hands on the money from all her post-jungle success!

“It was a joke, because he’s known her for years. It was quite funny. But I think her mum was keen.”

Even though Piers likes to go on about things that might embarrass others, he also revealed that his son wasn’t angry with him for trying to sort out his love life.

“No he was fine. He was bang up for it,” the presenter admitted.

Spencer and Toff have been friends for a long time and, just to go along with the joke, Spencer posted a tweet with a picture of the couple that said: “First date went well guys. Thanks for asking.”

To which Toff replied: Lol Spen

But when asked about a possible liaison, Toff shut down any hope of romance between the pair, telling Hello mag: “I think the romantic ship might have sailed for us.

“I don’t think Spencer would see me in that way, I can assure you.”

When she was in the jungle, Toff had revealed that she had split from her ex-boyfriend before heading to Australia.

Since she returned Toff has been spotted on several dates with jeweller Charles Goode.

In a recent interview with The Sunday Times, she said: “We’ve known each other for years and years. We grew up in Devon, and now we just hang out and it’s great.

She added: “He’s really lovely.”
