Piers Morgan insults Gary Lineker in homework debate

He picked out a physical trait of the former footballer

Clearly they are good friends, but this hasn’t stopped Piers Morgan from publicly disagreeing with Gary Lineker.

The football pundit has responded to a tweet from comedian Rob Delaney bemoaning this country's system of homework for kids.

He posted: "Why do they give seven year olds so much homework in UK & how do I stop this?

"I want my kid frolicking & drawing & playing football. Who knows more about stopping this madness & can help me?"

A lot of LAZY parents will agree with you, Jugs.

Gary agreed with him, writing: "Homework is a waste of time. Brings stress to the home, stress to the child, stress to the parents, stress to the parent - child relationship.

"Reading every night should suffice, imho."

Gary later tweeted after receiving supportive feedback from other parents: "Seems an awful lot of parents agree on the pointlessness and stressful nature of homework.

"Kids should be allowed to play and enjoy home-life with their parents without the divisiveness of work they have plenty of time to do at school.

"There’s plenty of time to be an adult."

Piers retorted by taunting: "A lot of LAZY parents will agree with you, Jugs.

"As a nation, we're falling so far behind educational standards of countries like China, it's embarrassing.

"Telling our kids to now give up on homework seems a perverse response to this..."

Gary then proffered a virtual eye roll, seemingly unsurprised that Piers would take the opposite stance in the debate...

But Piers wasn't done... especially when Gary mentioned that he'd skipped homework to practise football.

The Good Morning Britain host pointed out that 99.99999% of kids practising football wouldn't end up making a living out of playing.
