Piers Morgan ends up in hospital following painful injury

The GMB host thanked Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for their "speedy treatment"

Good Morning Britain’s Piers Morgan has been left in hospital after falling over and breaking three of his ribs.

The star tweeted about the painful injury on Twitter and thanked Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for their “speedy treatment”.

But he didn’t quite receive the support from his fans as he probably expected.

Earlier today he tweeted: “BREAKING (literally…) NEWS: I’ve broken 3 ribs falling flat on my a**e. Thanks to @ChelwestFT staff for speedy treatment.”

Shortly before his injury the presenter was posting his usual controversial tweets.

In a series of messages he was moaning about Arsenal’s football manager Arsene Wenger.

Following his tweet about his injury, Piers still showed some humour by saying: “Trying to work out what’s causing me more pain, Wenger or 3 broken ribs. Fairly sure it’s Wenger.”

Fans weren’t so supportive towards the outspoken presenter, however, as one tweeted: “Finally some good news.”

Another added: “*Arsene Wenger likes this*.”

“Has it knocked any sense in you????” a third said.

Another was slightly more harsh to the presenter saying: “Nobody cares about your broken ribs you fat attention seeking [expletive].”

To which Piers, 52, replied: “Many thanks for your kind thoughts. They are greatly appreciated at this difficult time.”

Meanwhile some of his devoted fans were much more comforting towards him.

One wrote: “Sorry to hear that. That’s a painful injury and I wish you a speedy recovery Mr Morgan.”

Another said: “Ouch! Get well soon! No laughing for while, or sneezing!”

Piers has been enjoying some time off from the early morning talk show over the summer but will soon be reunited with presenting partner Susanna Reid in September.

Piers and co-star Susanna Reid finished up their final stint before the summer break at the end of July.

And the show’s been taken over by a range of guest presenters including Jeremy Kyle, who definitely gave Piers a run for his money, This Morning’s Eamonn Holmes and Richard Madeley.

Richard, best-known as one half of TV duo Richard & Judy, with wife Judy Finnigan, is hosting the show this week with Kate Garraway before Susanna and Piers’ return.

Meanwhile Piers has been enjoying some quality time with his three sons over the summer.

The controversial star spent some time in the States at the end of last month before jetting off to Caribbean island Antigua earlier this month.

Piers has been soaking up the sun and spending some quality time with his three sons – Spencer, 24, Stanley, 20, and Albert, 16.

In the first of many snaps Piers enjoyed an evening with his boys enjoying food and drinks.

He captioned the shot: “Lads on tour… and Biggie. #antigua #notorious.”

And fans can’t get over how handsome his boys are!

One said: “Gorgeous looking boys and you’re not too bad I suppose!”

“Handsome chaps,” another said.

The star landed back in the UK on Sunday following his luxurious holiday.

And it appears he’s been catching up with what’s been going on during Good Morning Britain while he’s been away.

If you’ve been watching you would know that Love Island winners Kem Cetinay and girlfriend Amber Davies have been presenting the show’s entertainment segment this week.

During their segment Kem announced that his ultimate man crush is Piers.

He revealed that he’s been spending some time in Piers’ dressing room before the show aired and even borrowed some of his aftershave.

The show’s official Twitter page tweeted: “Looks like you’ve got yourself a new fan, @piersmorgan. Isn’t that right @KemCetinay?”

But Piers didn’t seem too happy. He replied: “A) I don’t wear aftershave. B) Get out of my dressing room.”

Oh, we can’t wait to have Piers back on our screens!
