This Morning’s Phillip Schofield to undergo treatment for eye condition

He's having them "zapped"

ITV presenter Phillip Schofield has revealed he’s getting work done on his eyes to fix a problem with ‘floaters’.

The This Morning favourite, 57, posted on social media about plans to have his eyes “zapped” and joked with his fans.

Taking to his Instagram Stories, Phil shared a close-up selfie to offer followers a good look at his eye.

He wrote across the snap: “I wish there was a better name than ‘floaters’ for the mess that’s in my eyes… but today I’m having them laser zapped.”

According to the NHS, floaters are common and not usually a sign of anything serious, particularly if you have had them for a while, they are not getting worse and don’t affect your vision.

They are especially common for older people and are normally caused by a process called posterior vitreous detachment, or PVD, which happens as we age.

According to medical website Healthline, laser therapy can be used to get rid of floaters, breaking them up to reduce their presence.

Despite experiencing floaters, Phillip has been on This Morning all week, getting up to his usual antics with co-host Holly Willoughby.

On Monday, the pair shocked viewers when Holly decided to sniff Phil’s armpit in a bid to detect his “man smell”.

They were taking part in a Father’s Day gift guide segment hosted by Strictly Come Dancing pro Anton Du Beke when Holly started opening the products in a grooming set see what they smelt like.

She asked Anton if they had that “man smell” and Anton, visibly perplexed, admitted he had no idea what kind of smell Holly meant.

So she explained: “You know what I mean, that smell that is just ‘man’, all deodorants have it. Smell them and you’ll know what I mean!”

Phil then quipped, “What, like mine?”, lifted his arm – and Holly bent forward to give his pit a good sniff. Urgh!
