Phillip Schofield admits he doesn’t believe Gemma Collins ‘passed out’ during DOI fall

He has questioned her claims

Phillip Schofield has admitted he doesn’t believe Gemma Collins “passed out” during her fall on Dancing On Ice.

The former TOWIE star, 37, said she believes she “blacked out” as she fell face first onto the ice during her performance on Sunday night.

However, during Wednesday’s This Morning, Phil questioned Gemma’s comments while speaking to her professional skating partner Matt Evers.

After watching a clip of Gemma’s nasty tumble, Phil said: “If she passed out, which I don’t think she did because her eyes were open and her arms were out, that has serious implications?”

Matt, 41, said: “I think, in sport, it’s called the ‘achievement zone’ and sometimes when you’re in the middle of a performance you actually have no idea what’s going on and muscle memory takes over.

“That’s why we train the celebs so hard, so they don’t have to really think about the performance.

“I think what she experienced – it wasn’t a moment of black out – it was probably just a moment where she can’t remember what happened, because it happened so fast.”

Speaking about Gemma’s injuries, Matt added: “She is OK, still bruised, she’s still icing her knees…. But she’s back with fighting spirit.

“What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger that’s for sure. She is not wheelchair bound, but she was having trouble walking on Monday and those paps shots were just to get her into the car before she saw physio.

“We had a training session yesterday with Torvill and Dean and I’m about to get on the ice with her now.”

It comes after Gemma said she believes she “passed out” during her routine after she denied claims she ‘faked’ the fall.

Speaking to The Sun, Gemma said: “It definitely wasn’t faked, one million per cent. If they knew the pain I am in with my knee, they would understand.

“I didn’t fall, I passed out. I was just going and then, next thing, on the ground. What is scary is my teeth could have been smashed out. It was so weird. I don’t think I tripped, I think I blacked out.”

Earlier this week, Gemma admitted on Instagram she was “absolutely devastated” and “embarrassed” over the incident.

Sharing a clip of her routine to Instagram on Monday, Gemma thanked fans for their support and voting for her and Matt.

She wrote: “Absolutely devastated & embarrassed, my heart is broken but when I went down I thought of @gypsyking101 Tyson Fury and knew I had to get back up & carry on!

“Can’t thank you enough for your support on social media and picking up the phone to vote! I’m in a lot of pain but bring on fantasy week!!!”

Bookies have since slashed odds on the star falling over again on this weekend’s show.

William Hill have put her odds at 2/1 that she will tumble again.

William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams said: “Gemma is proving to be a PR winner for Dancing On Ice and amazing she is now our worst result.”

They’ve also got her at 5/1 to pull out of the show due to injury before it ends.
