Peter Andre’s wife Emily says 17-year age gap is “irrelevant”

Age is but a number, according to Emily

Peter Andre’s wife Emily has said she doesn’t care about their 17-year age gap.

In her latest column for OK! Magazine, the 28-year-old doctor described the age gap between herself and 45-year-old popstar Peter as “completely irrelevant”.

Emily claimed: “I think that age is just a number. If you are compatible as a couple then your age is completely irrelevant.”

She added: “Pete and I always joke that I act a few years older and he acts a few years younger so we meet in the middle.”

The couple first met when Emily’s surgeon father treated Peter for kidney stones.

They were friends for two years before romance blossomed and Peter popped the question in 2013, just days before their first daughter, Amelia, now four, was born.

The couple, who married in July 2015, are also parents to son Theo, one.

Meanwhile, Emily also used her OK! Magazine column to hit back at constant questioning over whether she and Peter will ever have another child.

She pointed out: “People often ask me if we will have another and find it surprising that we aren’t planning to. The worst part is that so many couples struggle with fertility and it must be incredibly stressful being asked about it constantly”

Peter has son Junior, 13, and daughter Princess, 11, from his marriage to Katie Price.

The couple have previously spoken out to defend their age gap.

In an interview with OK! last year, Emily admitted she still found it “hard” when people suggested she was too young for Peter and said she’d never open a social media account as she didn’t want to be subjected to that kind of negativity on a daily basis.

Peter, meanwhile, previously wrote in his New! Magazine column: “We don’t even think about the age difference – it’s irrelevant.”

Although the age gap doesn’t bother them, it hasn’t stopped Peter poking fun at it in the past!

During a joint appearance on ITV’s Lorraine in February, Peter was stunned when Emily confessed she didn’t know who Yogi Bear is.

A laughing Peter replied: “Oh my gosh, that is the only time I notice the age difference. That and the fact I look older than you! That’s about it.”
