Peter Andre backs son Junior to enjoy successful showbiz career

Talent runs in the family!

| Updated:

Peter Andre has said he believes son Junior has what it takes to forge a successful career in showbiz, after surprising Peter with his talent while rehearsing a recent script.

However, Peter insisted he’s making the 13-year-old wait until he’s finished school before pursuing his entertainment dreams.

Chatting to OK! Magazine, Peter, 45, said he’d enlisted Junior’s help while rehearsing lines for his recent short film, The Inheritance, which Peter shot in LA earlier this year.

He admitted being surprised at just how good his son was at delivering the gritty lines and said he could see Junior pursuing drama roles in the future.

Peter said: “I just thought, wow, he is really good. He’s got a beautiful singing voice too, so I think if he focuses the right way he could be really good.”

However, the Mysterious Girl singer turned TV presenter is adamant that Junior, whom he shares with ex-wife Katie Price, must finish his education before entering the showbiz world.

“Junior’s got the whole of his adult life to be a slave to a schedule – and not listen to what I say!” he joked.

While Junior may have to wait a few years to secure his breakthrough role, he’s certainly getting the prep work in now.

The teenager is starting a drama scholarship in September and recently won himself a distinction in his LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) exams, as did his younger sister Princess, 11.

Proud dad Pete wrote in this week’s New magazine column: “A distinction is the highest mark they could receive and I’m so flippin’ proud of them.

“It makes all the hours we spent rehearsing all the more worth it. Well done, kids!”

Peter first revealed earlier this year that Junior had caught the acting bug, leading to his drama scholarship.

He wrote in his New! column: “I applied for him last November and I was so proud when they sent me a letter telling me he’d been accepted. The school specialises in drama and sport and he starts there next year.”

Peter is also dad to daughter Amelia, four, and son Theo, one, with second wife, Emily.
