Peter Andre admits that he didn’t get much sleep on his wedding anniversary

But he claims it was for an innocent reason...

Peter Andre raised eyebrows this morning as he appeared to give away too much information about what he and wife Emily MacDonagh had got up to on their wedding anniversary.

The happy couple celebrated four years of marriage yesterday, and the Mysterious Girl singer, 46, told Good Morning Britain viewers that he hadn’t got much sleep.

As his fellow presenters heckled him, Pete hastily gave an innocent explanation for his lack of rest.

However, considering what present he bought for his wife, it’s hard to know whether he was telling the truth…

Pete is standing in for showbiz editor Richard Arnold on the ITV morning show this week.

And as he chatted away to presenter Ben Shephard, he admitted that he was feeling tired.

The dad-of-four confessed: “I haven’t slept much, I’ll be honest with you.”

But, realising how his comment had sounded, he quickly added: “Because we got up early.”

Whatever the reason for his lack of sleep, it seems like Pete and Emily enjoyed a romantic anniversary, with the singer explaining: “We went out to [London restaurant] Nobu and had a lovely Japanese meal.”

Pete then paid tribute to the former medical student, 29, claiming that she’s out of his league.

He said: “I’m punching big-time. She’s lovely and so kind. We had a great time. I bought her something silky.”

Peter’s fellow presenters didn’t ask for further details – which is probably for the best!

We reported yesterday that Pete had marked the couple’s anniversary by sharing three lovely videos of their big day with his Instagram followers.

He and Emily tied the knot at Mamhead House near Exeter, surrounded by family and friends.

Well, the singer has since uploaded two more videos, which include scenes of the couple dancing and their end-of-night fireworks display.

In the caption for the fourth video, Pete thanked the couple’s nearest and dearest, as well as making a poignant reference to his brother Andrew, who died of kidney cancer in 2012.

He wrote: “Thanks to all our friends and family that were there and continue to be there for us. You mean everything to us.

“Also for those close to us, relatives and friends and most importantly my brother Andrew who couldn’t be with us, we love you so much.”
