Paul Young’s fans offer support after his wife Stacey dies of brain cancer

She was only 52 years old

Singer Paul Young’s wife Stacey has died after a two-year battle with brain cancer, leading to an outpouring of support from fans.

Stacey passed away in the presence of her husband and children.

A statement from Paul’s publicist said: “The singer Paul Young has today announced that his wife, Stacey Young, sadly passed away today after a two-year fight with brain cancer.

“Stacey died peacefully at home surrounded by family, friends and her four children: Levi, Layla, Grady and Jude.

“The family respectfully ask for privacy at this time.”

Paul tweeted the news, writing: “Sadly Stacey has passed away today after a 2 year fight with brain cancer. She died peacefully at our home surrounded by family, friends and her four children: Levia, Layla, Grady and Jude”.

Paul’s fans and followers immediately flooded his post with well-wishes and messages of support.

One wrote: “So sorry to hear the news. Condolences to you and the family. x”.

And another reminisced: “I’m so sorry for your loss, Paul. I met Stacey on a shoot at your home many years ago, and she was lovely. Thoughts with you and your family”.

Stacey and Paul married in 1987 after meeting on the set of one of his video shoots – where Stacey was modelling.

They had three children before splitting in 2006. However, they reunited in 2009, by which time Stacey had had her fourth child, Jude, with Israeli businessman Ilan Slazenger.

Following their reconciliation, Paul became Jude’s stepfather.
