Paul Hollywood’s estranged wife Alex has revealed she’s been diagnosed with skin cancer.
She shared the news with fans in a video posted to her Instagram page on Monday, revealing she had basal cell carcinoma.
The chef, 54, urged her followers to check themselves for signs of the disease and described her diagnosis as a “wake up call”.

She wrote: “So here’s the thing.. I wanted you lot to see this because I know that we’re all scared of the ‘C’ word.
“I’m lucky, this is no big deal but it’s a bit of a wake up call and payback for those years I spent poolside and mucking around in boats as a Scuba Instructer, in and out of the water with little or no sunscreen!
“We all need to be more self aware, so with that in mind – I really hope you’ll all have a good look at yourselves tonight in the bathroom mirror – and if you’re not sure about something.. go see your GP!”
In the video, which saw Alex speaking to the camera with a plaster covering part of her nose, she continued: “It did freak me out at first. A specialist sorted it out straight away and very painlessly.
“Everything’s going to be fine and go back to normal.”
Fans were quick to offer their support and well-wishes to Alex.
One person said: “Well done for sharing, glad you are OK,” while another wrote: “I am so pleased you got this sorted early on. More pleased your ok and wish you very good health for your future.”
A third added: “Pleased you’ll make a full recovery and very brave to tell the world.”
It comes after it was reported at the weekend that Alex is to get £5million and she and ex Paul’s £2.4million home in a divorce settlement.
The pair parted ways for good in November 2017 with Alex, 54, reportedly struggling to get over Paul’s infidelity.
He had previously had an affair with his US Bake Off co-star Marcela Valladolid, which resulted in the couple’s first split in 2013.

Alex cited “adultery” for the breakdown of the couple’s marriage, denied by Paul.
Now, Alex has been advised she is entitled to half his fortune, The Sun claimed, which is bumped up by around £1.5million thanks to various assets including horses and cars.
