Paul Hollywood’s plans to crack America have apparently been put on hold due to his commitments with The Great British Bake Off.
The bearded baker hit headlines earlier this year when he was revealed as the only member of The Great British Bake Off quartet to move with the show from the BBC to Channel 4.
Now The Sun newspaper has claimed that his commitments with the series, including finding a co-judge to match his chemistry with Mary Berry, have meant he has had to rethink his plans to make a splash across the pond.
This is, apparently, despite executives commissioning a full series of a pilot he filmed for U.S. channel Food Network.
The series was due to film in Los Angeles in 2017.
“Paul shot the pilot in August just before the BBC started negotiating with Bake Off makers Love Productions,” a source told the publication.
“Producers loved the one-off he had made and commissioned a full series to shoot next year in LA.
“But Paul had committed to stay with Bake Off and he knows that there’s a lot on with his already busy schedule and holding down the show…
“It’s frustrating for him but he knows that Bake Off needs him. Hopefully he can have another stab at the US.”
It’s not the first time Paul has attempted to make a name for himself in America. He appeared on U.S. TV screens in The American Baking Competition in 2013.

Channel 4’s first series of The Great British Bake Off, which they acquired from the BBC in a huge £75 million deal, starts filming next May.
Paul’s fellow judge Mary and presenters Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc all opted to stay with the BBC.
