Disgraced Lostprophets singer Ian Watkins has been found guilty of having a phone in jail.
The paedophile was given 10 months after hiding a mobile up his backside in order to contact an ex from HMP Wakefield.
Watkins, 42, told Leeds Crown Court he was forced to hold the phone for two 'murderers' he refused to identify.
He said the men wanted to take advantage of women who still send him fan mail despite his sex offences conviction in 2013.
The Welsh musician also said the unnamed men were 'not to be messed with'.
He was convicted today after a jury rejected his claims.
Judge Rodney Jameson QC said: "I am very conscious of the fact you are serving a very long time and you will be well into middle age by the time you are released.
"The fact of the matter is if there is not an appreciable penalty for having had a mobile phone in these circumstances then of course you would draw from that the lesson you could have another one and that is not a position I would want to encourage."
The sentence will also delay Watkins’ eligibility for parole by five months.
Watkins was previously sentenced to 29 years after admitting 13 sex offences described by a judge as 'plumbing new depths of depravity'.
As evidence was presented Watkins said he is currently locked up with 'murderers, mass murderers, rapists, paedophiles, serial killers - the worst of the worst'.
The jury heard he was strip searched in prison in March 2018 following a tip-off.
An initial search produced nothing but Watkins later revealed a small mobile after becoming worried he would not be able to see his mother.
He is said to have reached into his underwear and passed on a three inch white GTSTAR phone.
