It’s been a long 33 years since epic blockbuster, Top Gun killed box offices everywhere.
And now, Tom Cruise has thrilled fans by unveiling a trailer for the long-awaited sequel.

The 57-year-old Hollywood actor personally introduced the clip during an appearance at San Diego Comic Con this week.
Speaking to audiences about the original 1986 movie – and its follow up due for release a year from now – Tom said: “I was always asked ‘When are you going to do another one?’
“Well, you’ve been very patient with me. I felt like it was my responsibility to really deliver for you.”
In the trailer, we see the Scientologist actor return to play Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell. He seems just as cock-sure as ever, as he talks back to his superior officer, played by Ed Harris.
We also get glimpses of his new co-stars, including Jon Hamm and Jennifer Connelly.
The plot for Top Gun 2 apparently sees Maverick taking over as a flight instructor, teaching the son of his old friend Goose.
But we also get plenty of nostalgic shots of Tom in the classic leather jacket and sunglasses from the previous film.
Known for filming his own stunts, Tom also flew the jets and rode the motorbikes for real.
Taking to Twitter the dad-of-three shared the first-look trailer with his followers, writing simply: “Maverick is back. #TopGun.”

Tom also thanked everyone for their enthusiasm, tweeting: “Thank you to all the fans who came out to Hall H today. It was great to share our first trailer for Top Gun: Maverick with you all.”

Fans went wild over the trailer, with one comment reading: “Oh sweet Jesus this looks better than I could have ever dreamed.”
Another asked: “Who else got GOOSEBUMPS when that top gun theme started playing?” A third declared: “I’ve been waiting 33 years for this sequel!” One more said: “OMG… I cannot wait! That music starts and I get chills. 💕.”
Many also gushed about how amazing the nearly 60-year-old looks, with one tweeting: “Guy had the fountain of youth in his house.” Another wrote: “You age so stinkin’ slowly, it’s really unfair to your former cast mates.”
A third commented: “I can’t get over how young Tom Cruise still looks.”

This looks amazing. And we have to agree with the comments – Tom Cruise has not aged a day, never mind 33 years…
