Mum seeks advice as teenage daughter gets pregnant by step brother

She's due to get married in a few days

A mum has asked people for advice after discovering her teenage daughter is pregnant with her step brother’s baby.

The anonymous woman took to Facebook to reveal her daughter, 15, got pregnant by her fiancé’s son, who is 16.

The woman said she has just five days until she ties the knot with her fiancé, and her daughter and stepson have just told them the news.

She wrote: “My fiancé and I have been engaged for a year now. He has a 16-year-old son and I have a 15-year-old daughter.

“Two months ago we moved in together, so now we are a blended family.

“Edit: And he’s the daddy.”

The woman asked whether she should even continue with the wedding.

Her original Facebook announcement received a string of reactions and comments, before it was screengrabbed and shared on the group That’s it I’m wedding shaming.

People were quick to share their thoughts, with one person commenting: “Obviously they are not related but that doesn’t make it fine.

“The family dynamics and relationship structures have changed. It’s a lot for kids to deal with. Separate the kids. Get some family therapy.”

Another said: “Oh God what a mess and what a fun situation to explain to people in the future.”

However, others did relate to the bride-to-be’s difficult situation.

One person said: “This actually happened with a girl I went to school with, their parents did still get married and now the kids are engaged and have two kids.”

Another wrote: “It’s weird but not unheard of. Go get married… just maybe not adopt each others kids? What a mess indeed.”

By law, people who are step relations can marry in certain circumstances as they don’t share any blood parents.

However, they are urged to seek legal advice first due to there being strict requirements.
