Midwives slammed for discussing woman’s “unusual” pubic hair during labour

The new mum revealed the episode on Mumsnet

Some midwives have been blasted as “unprofessional” after a mum revealed they discussed the style of her pubic hair during labour.

Sharing the moment on Mumsnet, the woman said the health workers made comments that it was “unusual” she had a “full head” down below.

The comments were criticised as “inappropriate”, with one person saying she should have reported the midwives to their bosses.

Responding to a post discussing the practice of shaving pubic hair, the woman said: “I think full removal is really common.

“The midwives who stitched up my 2nd degree tear were both discussing my ‘full head’ and how unusual it was these days, and my women’s health physio said the same.”

One user replied: “I hope you told all three of them to shut the [bleep] up and then reported them to their superiors?”

Another posted: “How completely inappropriate.”

A third added: “OMG I’m due no.2 in April.

“I will be mortified if the midwife starts discussing my full bush!!”

Echoing those sentiments a fourth said: “Agree, it’s not on for them to comment.”

Another Mumsnetter said that if the woman hadn’t prompted the comments, the midwives were “seriously unprofessional”.
