Writing alongside the photo, Michelle told her fans: “Here we go…onto my next adventure. @skyone #brassic #readthrough#excited.”

Brassic has been penned by both Danny Brocklehurst, the writer behind the Netflix thriller Safe, and Michelle’s new co-star Joe Gilgun, who previously starred in Emmerdale and This Is England.

Described as a ‘working class comedy’, it follows the story of Vinnie (played by Gilgun) – who suffers from bipolar disorder – and his best friend Dylan, played by Damien Molony.

Michelle stars as Dylan’s girlfriend Erin, who has decided to up sticks and leave town.

As a result, Dylan is left wondering whether to follow his heart and go with Erin or stay put with Vinnie and his mates.

But while most of her fans are thrilled, some of Michelle’s followers have mixed feelings about her new role, as they fear it could spell the end of the BBC drama Our Girl.

“So is Our Girl done?!? Or…..” one posted on Instagram.

Another asked: “This mean no more @ourgirlofficial :(.”

Michelle has starred as Corporal Georgie Lane in Our Girl since 2016 and the fourth series recently finished on BBC 1.

However, although sources have claimed to The Sun that Michelle HAS signed up for series five, there is no official word from show bosses.
