The Duke and Duchess of Sussex braved the snow to meet fans during a royal engagement in Bristol on Friday.

Despite the cold weather, the couple were all smiles as they met fans and children, but Meghan – who is pregnant with the couple’s first child – sparked concern among some people over her choice of footwear for the occasion.

Meghan, who is expected to give birth in a couple of months, wore a black William Vintage coat, Oscar de la Renta dress, and olive green high heeled boots.

But as photos emerged of the couple out and about in Bristol, some fans took to Twitter to express concern for Meghan.

One person said: “Ice and snow is not safe for anyone to be walking on especially Meghan who is seven months pregnant.”

Another wrote: “Hope they’ve gritted the path Meghan and Harry will be walking on today, I worry about Meghan in heels and that icy ground!”

A third tweeted that although the boots are a more “sensible” option, they were “maybe a tad high”.

They wrote: “Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry arrive in Bristol Meghan is in a sensible coat and boots, though maybe a tad high for a snowy, slippery walk about…  she seems completely unphased by the snow…”

Other fans pointed out that Meghan used to live in Toronto in Canada, where snow tends to be much heavier.

Meghan is expected to welcome their first child in just a couple of months.

On their first joint engagement of 2019, the 37-year-old was overhead by several reporters revealing that their baby would be due in late April or early May.

But before welcoming their baby, the couple will be moving out of their two-bedroom Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace in London into a 10-bedroom Frogmore Cottage on the grounds of Windsor Castle.
