Author and TV personality David Starkey has claimed the Duchess of Sussex is admired by the Queen.
According to a Mail Online report, the presenter of historical documentaries reckons the monarch has a special affection for her grandson Prince Harry’s wife.
Dr Starkey, an expert on royals such as Henry VIII, reportedly told a correspondent the Queen “likes” Meghan – evidenced in the way she has involved her and Harry in issues close to her heart.
The 74-year-old academic is reported to have said: “The Queen immediately made her and Harry ambassadors for the Commonwealth, which is the only thing that the Queen really cares about.”

However, Dr Starkey does seem to object to what he perceives as Meghan having “too much Hollywood entitlement”.
Touching on issues that have dogged Meghan and Harry all summer, Dr Starkey sounded a warning about his view about her “woke” approach.
He added: “Her hypocrisy is just the same as any other member of the Hollywood elite: they all proclaim their eco-sensitivity while flying their private jets.”
Nonetheless, the outspoken presenter also hailed Meghan as a progressive presence in the royal family – and compared her behaviour to the late Princess of Wales.

Dr Starkey continued: “She’s a royal modernisation in herself because of her mixed race, because of being an American, her absence of any kind of obvious religion, being an actress, all of this would have been unthinkable 20 years ago.”
Likening Meghan’s approach to Diana’s, he also noted both figures presented themselves as celebrities and suggested this may have been a factor in why Harry was attracted to Meghan.
Claiming the Duke of Sussex has “married his mother”, Dr Starkey also congratulated Meghan on performing the “dominant wife role” successfully.
