The Duchess used the nickname on Archie's first-ever royal engagement

The adorable nickname that Meghan has for baby Archie has been revealed as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex took their son on his first royal engagement in South Africa.

The trio met Archbishop Desmond Tutu and his daughter Thandeka Tutu-Gxashe on Wednesday.

In a video from the meeting, the Duchess can be heard calling him “bubba”.

“Say hello! Hello, hi,” Meghan says, but then realises he’s drooling.

“Oh, bubba!” she went on.

Meghan, 38, also appeared to use the same sweet nickname in a clip shared to the couple’s official Instagram account.

During their special meeting, the cute tot showed off his cheeky side as he let out a little giggle when Thandeka laughed.

“Is that funny?” Meghan asked. Thandeka said it seems like Archie already understands her, to which Harry replied: “I think he knows exactly what’s going on.”

“You like me best, yes! Oh, you like the ladies better, yeah,” Thandeka said.

Meghan agreed, saying: “He likes to flirt.”

The meeting proved to be a great success with the Duke and Duchess later releasing a black and white photo of the human rights activist planting a kiss on Archie’s head.

“Thank you Archbishop Tutu for your incredible warm hospitality, Archie loved meeting you!” they captioned the photo.

The royal family touched down in South Africa on Monday and were busy meeting locals and charity workers in Cape Town for the first couple of days before their meeting with the Archbishop. Harry has now flown to Botswana without Meghan and Archie.
