Harry and Meghan ‘to share first photo of their baby on Instagram’

The royal baby is expected to arrive very soon

| Updated:

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will welcome their first child very soon.

It was recently reported that Meghan is not planning to pose with her newborn baby on the hospital steps like Kate Middleton and Princess Diana did.

Now, it seems the couple may opt for a less traditional reveal by sharing the first photo of their baby on Instagram.

Earlier this month, the couple set up their own Instagram account – which has already racked up over 4.3 million followers.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams has predicted Meghan and Harry will unveil their newborn daughter or son to the world by posting a snap on the social media site.

He told The Sun: “There will be a huge demand for photos and it may well be no coincidence that they have just opened an Instagram account. The birth of Baby Sussex will be a global event.

“If there is no pose outside the hospital the couple, on this most personal of occasions, they will be sure to send photos to the millions awaiting them.

“It’s worth remembering they are a celebrity power couple and we know how significant they are in the royal family.”

It comes after royal correspondent Emily Andrews predicted that Meghan will break a four-decade royal tradition by deciding not to pose outside the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in London.

Emily said Meghan will want a more private and normal birth and to bond with her baby without the pressure of facing cameras.

According to The Sun, when asked whether Meghan is planning an “on the steps moment”, Emily told the On Heir podcast: “At the moment, we understand that she isn’t, she doesn’t want to do that, isn’t going to do that.”

American commentator Omid Scobie added that Meghan posing for the pics would go against her “feminist” beliefs.

He said: “Given what we know about Meghan, the optics of a totally glamorous, picture-perfect moment hours after giving birth are not quite in alignment with her views on the world.”

However, reports have also suggested that Meghan may following in the Queen’s footsteps and have a home birth.

Speaking about the prospect of the home birth, a source told the Daily Mail: “It’s her favoured choice, but it obviously depends on how things are nearer the time.”
