United States President Donald Trump has rubbished claims he called Meghan Markle “nasty”.
The controversial leader took to Twitter on Sunday (June 2) to deny reports of his comments about the Duchess of Sussex – despite there being an audio recording of the remarks.
He tweeted to his 60.8 million followers: “I never called Meghan Markle ‘nasty’. Made up by the Fake News Media, and they got caught cold!”

Former actress Meghan has criticised President Trump in the past, calling him a “misogynist” and “divisive” as she supported his opponent, Democrat Hillary Clinton, during the 2016 presidential race.
Trump was informed about her comments in an interview with the Sun newspaper and responded: “I didn’t know that. What can I say? I didn’t know that she was nasty.”
Despite that, he went on to say “it is nice” she’s joined the royal family and he believes “she will do excellently”, adding: “She will be very good.”
Meghan’s comments date back to an interview on US talk show The Nightly Show in 2016.
She told the host, Larry Wilmore: “Yes, of course, Trump is divisive. Think about female voters alone, right? I think it was in 2012 the Republican Party lost the female vote by 12 points.
“That is a huge number and with [someone] as misogynistic as Trump is, and so vocal about it, that is a huge chunk of it.”
Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan, who has previously lashed out at Meghan, weighed into the debate last night.
He appeared to side with Trump and claimed on Twitter his remarks about her being “nasty” were taken out of context, writing: “Trump clearly meant he hadn’t heard Meghan be nasty about him in the way the Sun interviewer suggested.
“But the Trump-bashing media prefers to report that he believes Meghan herself is nasty, even when he went on to shower her in compliments.”

Donald Trump landed in Britain today (June 3) for his three-day UK state visit.
The famous Air Force One plane touched down at Stansted Airport at around 9am, according to BBC News.
While here, Trump is due to meet members of the Royal Family, although he’s not expected to meet Meghan as the Duchness is currently on maternity leave after giving birth to baby Archie on May 6.
The president is also expected meet outbound Prime Minister Theresa May for talks about climate change and Chinese tech giant Huawei.
