She wrote: “Sorry I haven’t been on social media but I’m in complete shock and trying to come to terms with this.

“I can’t believe I’m even writing this post. My thoughts and prayers are with Mike’s family. Rest in peace Mike x.”

Megan and Mike dated for seven months before splitting in July of last year.

On Sunday, police confirmed Mike died of suicide by hanging.

“Police were called to a park near Latymer Way, N9 at 09:28hrs on Saturday, 16 March to reports of a man found hanged,” they said.

“Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and found a man, aged in his 20s, deceased.

“At this early stage, the death is not being treated as suspicious. The man’s next of kin have been informed. A file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Several of Mike’s Love Island co-stars have paid tribute to him, including his good friend Montana Brown.

Montana said: “One of my friends texted me, ‘I don’t know whether this is true, but Mike has taken his life’. I tried to call him and his phone went straight to answer phone.

“There was just no reason for him to do that. I don’t know if it was a spontaneous decision… but it just makes me so sad that he had so many demons that he had to fight alone.”

Montana also revealed Mike had recently been reading self-help book The Magic after he was in a “dark place”.
