Liam Payne couldn’t resist making a quip about his former One Direction bandmate Zayn Malik at the Glamour Awards last night.
The singer was presenting James Corden with his Man of the Year award, and said: “One Direction never had a slogan but if we had, Zayn might have stayed.”
Liam has previously spoken about how he doesn’t understand why his former bandmate has such bad feelings about his time with the group.
“It is very sad because One Direction was a wonderful, wonderful time in all of our lives,” he said.
“It was like uni but on steroids, it was mad.
“It was so much fun and I don’t understand how you can come out of that experience and say the things that he says sometimes. It doesn’t make any sense to me but there you go.”
It’s not all bad feelings, though. When Liam was recently asked which of his band mates’ solo tracks he liked the best, he replied: “I would say Zayn’s song was my favourite.
The host asked whether he meant Pillowtalk. “Yes, because it’s my style of music,” replied Liam.
“I think that’s the song I would choose.”
Liam’s girlfriend Cheryl was not at the ceremony as she was at home looking after their 11-week-old son Bear.
“[Cheryl’s] got him in a sleeping pattern already,” he said. “We’re having seven hours sleep a night.
“He looks a lot like me but he has her eyes which is great.”
“Who’s he gonna take after? Who knows?”
“He’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me. She’s the best mum in the world so I couldn’t have picked a better woman to do it with.”
