Matt Evers urges troll to seek “professional help” for slamming Gemma Collins

Many people criticised Gemma's skating skills

Matt Evers has urged a Twitter troll to seek “professional help” after they slammed Gemma Collins.

The 42-year-old skater has jumped to the defence of his Dancing on Ice partner after a social media user accused The Only Way is Essex star of ruining the show with her “attention seeking” antics.

The viewer posted: “I’ve been an avid fan from series 1 and I honestly can’t stand this series due to her! All the judges are pathetic molly coddling the self centered attention seeker! Ruined a perfectly good show for me! (sic)”

Matt replied on his own Twitter account, writing: “Honestly, if our 1 minute and 30 sec performance ruins an entire 2 hour show…. you need professional help. The viewing figures don’t agree with any of the haters. (sic)”

It comes after Matt also defended Gemma against accusations that she “can’t skate”, sharing a clip of her from the weekend’s show and highlighting the fact she successfully executed some inside three turns, a figure skating step that involves both a change of direction and change of edge and is found on the sixth level of Skate UK’s eight-level basic skills programme.

He captioned the clip: “Last time I checked… ‘ice skating’. These are actually called inside three 3 turns.

“Who ever says @missgemcollins ‘can’t skate’… she can.”

But when a critical user pointed out Gemma was “holding on” to her partner and not skating alone, Matt hit back once again.

He wrote: “Please do your research and watch week 1, 3 and 4… she does plenty of skating on her own. Believe me, I know. I choreographed her. (sic)”

Responding to another critic, he added: “I am hired to skate with them. WITH THEM. How often do @torvillanddean separate in a routine?

“How much of a ballroom dance are the dancers separated? Have you ever watched actual ice dancing? Google is amazing. Please educate yourself about the show before you hate. Thank you. (sic)”
