Married At First Sight fans convinced Steph and Jonathan will divorce

Will the nurse and her property manager groom live happily ever after?

A new series of Married At First Sight kicked off last night, as two new couples set to wed each other having NEVER met before.

The first to head down the aisle were nurse Steph and property manager Jonathan, with office manager Verity and IT consultant Jack not far behind them.

Although the pairings don’t know each other at all, they marry seconds after meeting in one of TV’s most fascinating – and frankly bizarre! – social experiments.

Chosen from more than 7,000 people who contacted the show hoping to take part, the couples are supposed to be highly-compatible after being matched by a panel of experts.

But some fans weren’t convinced by Steph and Jonathan’s union.

In fact, the majority of those watching from home have already predicted the union will end in divorce!

They say the main clue lies in Steph’s previous heartbreak.

Before the couple met, they both talked to the camera about why on earth they would be prepared to marry a complete stranger.

And Steph couldn’t hide her heartbreak when she spoke of how “the love of her life” had cheated on her just before Christmas.

Fans predicted Steph has been left with serious trust issues, and were especially worried when her groom-to-be described his close friendships with girls.

One tweeted: “Steph has massive trust issues and they’ve put her with a guy who hangs out with 10 women regularly? #MarriedAtFirstSight.”

Another said: “Okay, so Steph has trust issues, and Jonathan is rocking up with not one but TWO beautiful female best friends… #marriedatfirstsight @Channel4 #iheardivorcebells.”

A third blasted: “He basically had a hen do! I am screamingggg at the TV. How on earth did they think this was a match? Steph is going to hate him having all these female friends.”

“Oh dear, Steph is not over the man who broke her heart,” said another. “That doesn’t suggest she’s ready to get married marriedatfirstsight.”

Many others were similarly convinced the marriage would be doomed, with one tweeting: “Steph and Jonathan actually has disaster written all over it. I can’t wait. #MarriedAtFirstSight.”

Another added: “Oh Steph no!!!!!!! This is going to be a disaster. MarriedAtFirstSight.”

Others believed that Steph had not looked happy during her first dance, and was perhaps already regretting the move.

After the ceremony, in which the ring did not fit on Steph’s finger, the couple immediately headed off on honeymoon to Seville to see if their marriage has a chance.

None of the couples from the previous three series are still together. Just saying!
