The complex is home to the popular Harry Potter studio tour

A crew member on the set of a new Anne Hathaway movie being filmed at Warner Bros. Studios was reportedly stabbed in the neck in a fight with another member of staff.

They were filming a remake of the Roald Dahl-inspired blockbuster The Witches when the incident occurred, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

Police were called to the facility in Leavesden, Hertfordshire on Wednesday (June 19) along with two ambulances, which took the man to a hospital in the area while his alleged attacker was arrested.

It is believed the fight, between a stage hand and a rigger, took place with around 100 crew members on the set.

Hertfordshire Police said: “Police were called at around 12.35pm today (June 19) to reports of an incident at Warner Brothers Studios in Leavesden.

“One man sustained a neck injury and was taken to hospital by ambulance. A second man was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm and is currently in police custody.

“It is believed the men are known to each other. Enquiries are continuing at this time to establish the circumstances around what happened.”

The Mail further reported that several crew members rushed to help the injured man.

It is believed he is in his 30s and was attacked with a Stanley knife.

Someone from a different production crew working at the Leavesden facility said they heard it was a “fight between a stagehand and a rigger” and called the incident “embarrassing for Warner Bros.” as The Witches is “a very big production”.

They went on to say that, while things “can get quite heated on set”, they had never heard of anything like a stabbing happening.

The original film The Witches, based on celebrated children’s author Roald Dahl’s novel of the same name, was released in 1990.

The remake is due for release next year and features Hollywood stars Anne Hathaway, Chris Rock, Stanley Tucci and Octavia Spencer. It is not known if any of them were on set when the fight broke out.
