Lorraine weighs in on Jamie and Louise Redknapp split – and fans are not impressed

Strictly star has finally confirmed that the pair are living apart

After Louise Redknapp finally confirmed that she and husband Jamie are living separately and that she’d felt like a “Stepford wife” in her marriage, it’s been a hot topic of discussion.

But when Lorraine Kelly decided to share her views on the subject, fans were far from impressed.

Louise, who has children Charley, 13, and Beau, eight, with Jamie, rediscovered a love of performing when she joined Strictly Come Dancing last year and is now enjoying the chance to “follow her dreams”.  She’d previously given up her pop career to look after her sons.

Lorraine Kelly, who has interviewed Louise, said: “What I can’t understand, I hear what she’s saying, but it’s not one or the other. You can have a career and a family.

“It means your partner has to do a lot to help, but also they’re not exactly poor. She could have someone in to make the dinner.

Viewers disagreed with Lorraine’s views. “You know nothing about their marriage!” wrote one.

“If Louise has any sense, she’ll turn down any offers of a #lorraine interview after that ripping,” added another.

WAG Nicola McLean also shared her views on Twitter. “I’m so confused at this Louise Redknapp and Jamie split?” she wrote.

“Surely she can work and still be married? Is she having a mid-life crisis?”

Louise is currently starring in a tour of Cabaret alongside her former Strictly co-star Will Young, but Jamie apparently doesn’t feel he can watch her perform.

“It’s her big moment but he feels it would be too awkward,” a source told The Sun. “He’s gutted about what’s happened. It’s unfair to suggest he didn’t allow her to pursue her dreams.”

“He was totally supportive of her decision to do Strictly,” added the source. “Jamie and her friends don’t understand why she had to walk out on the marriage to pursue her own career.”

Louise gave an interview to The Telegraph in which she spoke for the first time about the split. She admitted that Strictly had helped her feel more confident about herself.

“I could feel myself changing week by week,” she said.

“Sometimes I felt like crying because deep down inside me this voice was screaming, ‘This is what I’ve been missing!'”

She also said that signing up to Strictly was “the most selfish thing I have done since my kids were born”.

Louise still wears her wedding and engagement rings and says she speaks to Jamie every day.
