Lorraine Kelly to be replaced by younger, controversial presenter

Scottish host is having a holiday

Countryfile host Helen Skelton will stand in for Lorraine Kelly on her ITV chat show next week.

Helen, who presented the BBC’s swimming and diving coverage at the Olympic Games in Rio, will fill in while Lorraine is on holiday.

The former Blue Peter and Newsround presenter will join ITV’s Lorraine from October 24.

She said: “I’m so excited to be filling Lorraine Kelly’s shoes for the week, although they are pretty big shoes to fill!

“I’m looking forward to working with the team at ITV, chatting to the special guests and taking part in the cookery items.

“Also, as people may know, I’m a huge fan of fashion so I’m especially looking forward to hearing the latest fashion news and sharing the latest trends with viewers.”

Guests on next week’s show include Lady Gaga, James Arthur, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Jodie Kidd and former Coronation Street star Tracy Brabin, who contested the Batley and Spen seat that was held by tragic MP Jo Cox.

Helen’s arrival on the ITV morning show comes after receiving much praise for her presenting skills during the Rio Olympics.

Lorraine Editor Sue Walton added: “We’re looking forward to welcoming respected and charismatic broadcaster Helen as she makes her debut on ITV Daytime.

“We are delighted that she’s bringing her talents, warmth and charisma to Lorraine.”
