L’Oreal confirms whether or not Cheryl will attend Cannes

This would be her first public appearance after the birth of her son

It has now been confirmed that Cheryl is NOT going to Cannes in May of this year.

The singer, 33, gave birth to a baby boy last month but fans had hoped to see her walk the red carpet for the swanky event in the South of France.

It was assumed that the former Girls Aloud star would attend as she hasn’t missed one in seven years. She is also the face of huge beauty giant L’Oreal Paris and represents the brand there.

A spokesperson for the French company said: “Having only given birth less than one month ago, Cheryl will not be attending Cannes Film Festival 2017 with L’Oreal Paris.”

“Cheryl only gave birth last month so understandably it is too soon for her to return to work”, a source also told MailOnline.

Last year, she attended the film festival with her boyfriend Liam Payne, and the One Direction singer shared a pic from their private jet, telling his fans they were on their way.

While the stunning brunette stays quiet about her one-month-old baby boy, Liam is more than happy to tell fans about his little tot.

During a trip to LA, where he is currently working on his new solo music, the 23-year-old told excited fans about how much he’s missing his baby.

“He’s great, he’s good. I love him and I miss him a lot,” said the proud father.

A fan took to Twitter to share his experience with chatting to the superstar.

“I met Liam tonight and we talked about his son! He said he is doing well and that he misses him very much -P.”

Cheryl announced the arrival of her son at the end of last month with a sweet photo of Liam holding their new addition to the family.

“On Wednesday 22nd March Liam and I became parents to an incredibly beautiful, healthy baby boy, weighing 7lb 9 and looking like a dream”, she wrote.

“Although he still doesn’t have a name he is already stealing hearts. We are all madly in love and overwhelmingly happy with our little arrival. Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers around the world. A day that now has a different meaning to me forever.”
