The comments are particularly vile

Lisa Riley’s weight loss should have been celebrated, but some online bullies have made her feel awful.

The former Emmerdale actress has opened up about how people called her ‘gaunt’ and said she had ‘gone too far’.

Lisa, 40, went from a size 28 to a size 10 and said she would do everything in her power to ignore the cruel abusers.

Talking to Woman magazine, she said: I was a size 28 and weighed 24 stone at my biggest. I’ve lost over 11 stone and I’m a size 10.

“Body-shaming is going to be around for a long time because people are obsessed with weight loss.

“And now people are saying, ‘You’re gaunt, you’ve gone too far’ and one person even said: ‘You look like a cancer victim!'”

She then added: “But I have to learn to shrug it off.”

The Loose Women presenter now plans to drop another dress size before she turns 41.

The brunette has also decided to have surgery that will remove all of the excess skin that she now has after her drastic transformation.

Lisa has been very committed to her new diet and regime, and back in December she even revealed that she had bought her Christmas outfit in a size 12 – before she lost even more weight.

In an interview with Closer magazine, she said: “I’ve already bought a size 12 dress for Christmas. It’s just the way that I’m going, the weight keeps dropping off. People ask: “Are you going to stop?” But it’s not a diet, I’ve completely changed my life.

She also spoke about the surgery she plans to get: “At the moment I can fold my stomach into my stockings and my least favourite body part is the roll under my bra strap. No amount of rowing is going to get rid of that.

“With the surgery, it’s a case of the caterpillar becoming the butterfly. I’m going to be a completely different person.”

On the Loose Women panel back in September, the actress divulged her weight-loss secrets, and it’s pretty simple.

She told the girls: “I have smaller portions now. I don’t believe in fad diets, even though I have tried them before. I have no food after 6.30pm.

“I only eat a carb if I need one and absolutely no bread or booze. I’ve been going to Zumba classes which is fun. I find the gym is boring.”
