Loose Women: Gail Porter hits back at abuse for homeless confession

Former presenter broke down in an emotional interview

Gail Porter revealed on Loose Women that she has been declared bankrupt at London’s High Court after being unable to pay her debts.

The Scottish star heartbreakingly broke down on the ITV show on Monday to reveal her huge stress while struggling to pay bills.

The 45-year-old said: “I was an idiot. I kept getting bills and instead of dealing with them, I would just put them under my pillow unopened.”

Gail really didn’t want to tell anybody, but said that it was public and knew it would come out.

Panellist Stacey Solomon sweetly said: “There is no shame in it. We’ve all fallen on tough times.”

Trying to keep things light-heartedly, the former 90s pin-up said: “I’m alright!”

The mum-of-one added that she was sectioned six years ago and that was the start of all of her financial trouble.

“I ran away from everything and things got worse. They weren’t huge bills,” she told the ladies.

Anne Diamond then asked Gail about the reports stating she had once slept on a park bench because she was homeless.

The whole studio goes quiet and Gail wells up saying: “It wasn’t recently…

“Someone tell me a joke… It was ages ago. I couldn’t afford anywhere. I was on Hampstead Heath.”

Her daughter Honey apparently didn’t know anything at the time.

Gail said: “She is 14 now, so she knows. I kept everything bottled up.”

In 2005, the former presenter developed alopecia and companies would employ her. Modelling opportunities just weren’t there any more, and made it very difficult for her to earn money.

Gail now lives off of just £200 each month after paying her rent for her flat in North West London.
