Coronation Street are planning a big storyline this summer for Rana Nazir – news that adds lots of fuel to the fire that she is set to be Kate Connor’s new love interest.
Fun-loving and flighty when she first came along, Rana very quickly settled into married life with Zeedan and calmed down almost immediately.
Whilst they seem to be happily married for now, that never stays the same in Soapland for long.
And now, in an interview with Soaplife, show boss Kate Oates has revealed what she has planned for the pair.
“We’ll get a deeper insight into Rana Nazir this summer. Why has this previously flighty woman settled for married life, and what secrets lie in her past?”
Just why was she so quick to settle down with Zeedan? Could it be that she was trying to hide from her feelings for other women – and are they about to come to the surface with Kate?
Speculation has been rife for a while that Kate could end up hooking up with nurse Rana, especially now the medic is helping Kate deal with Johnny’s MS diagnosis.

Kate and Rana have already been on a wild night out together earlier this year alongside Rana’s sister-in-law Alya Nazir.
As the girls grow closer as Kate struggles to deal with her dad’s diagnosis, it’s Rana who talks Kate out of blabbing to the rest of the Connor clan against Johnny’s wishes.
With no one to talk to other than Rana, could comfort turn to passion?
Fans are certainly starting to think this is the direction things could be going in.
Actress Faye Brookes spoke about what’s coming up for Kate at last week’s British Soap Awards.
Speaking to Radio Times, Faye revealed her character’s new love interest is set to “shock people”.
“Trust me, it’s not quiet any more,” she told the publication.
“We are ready to go for this year! I’m not going to give too much away, but there’s definitely something coming on the love life front.
“It’s going to shock people. I don’t think fans will guess who it is and neither will Kate, but I’m really excited and want to embrace it – and hopefully this time it will be for the long haul.”

Her last girlfriend, Caz Hammond, turned out to be a complete psycho stalker who ended up faking her own death to get Maria Connor locked up.
And Kate’s dalliance with Sophie Webster hasn’t really led anywhere, with the pair denying their attraction and just staying friends.
So if it’s someone on the Street already who’s not Sophie, does Rana fit the bill?
