Liam Payne explains THAT bizarre behaviour on The X Factor

He reckons producers stitched him up

X Factor fans were baffled on Saturday night when Liam Payne performed his new single, Bedroom Floor then appeared to leap off stage, grab Cheryl and barge through the crowd to leave the studio.

Many fans thought the former One Direction crooner was about to pop the question to his girlfriend in the most public way possible.

Show host Dermot O’Leary looked slightly bemused as Liam disappeared behind him, only to wander back past him and out to the judges’ table.

Liam then made a bee-line for Cheryl, grabbed her out of her seat then the pair made for the exit through the delighted crowd.

Cheryl appeared not to have a clue what was going on either, although she was all smiles as she went with her boyfriend.

However, the truth of the matter was far more run of the mill, as Liam explained on Sunday.

Speaking to the Mirror at the Pride of Britain awards, Liam said: “Producers told me to go this way and it looked like I was going out the front, bossed off the stage and took my missus and [bleep]ed off!

“But that’s what I got told to do and I got so much stick for it. It was hilarious, storming off the stage and taking my missus.”

So that’s that! Liam had a busy time while on set, using his appearance to cheekily warn Rak Su singer Myles to keep away from Cheryl.

After Dermot asked Liam who he was backing, Liam replied: “I think Kelvin  is good. I think Rai-Elle did a great job of opening the show.”

Liam then pointed at Myles and said: “And him, he fancies my missus so I’ve got to keep an eye on him!”

All in all it was a very action-packed evening for Liam, who’s about to embark on a solo tour to support his debut album.

Hopefully he’ll be able to work out which way is the stage exit by the time his tour rolls around!
