EastEnders star Shane Richie – who is best known for playing lovable Alfie Moon in EastEnders – has confirmed his TV comeback, and it’s a fair few miles away from Walford.
While his on-screen wife Jessie Wallace is resuming her role as Kat Slater in the BBC One soap, Shane will be heading to warmer climes as he films scenes for ITV comedy, Benidorm.

Shane took to Twitter earlier today to announce he’s been hitting the bottle – the tanning bottle that is – to step into creepy comic Sammy Valentino’s shoes once more.
Shane originally played the role of Sammy back in 2015, but the uber-tanned entertainer will be heading back to the Solana when series 10 airs next month.
Along with his tweet – which included a snap of himself in full Valentino clobber – Shane added: “Flip my happy sacks and call me Brenda!!!! @BenidormTVshow we’re back #sammyvalentino.”
Shane has yet to confirm if Alfie will be following Kat back to Albert Square later this year.
He did take the time to reassure fans that his popular character had survived the risky brain surgery he was seen undergoing during EE spin-off, Redwater, last summer.
Alfie was last seen flatlining on an operating table after discovering the brain tumour he was diagnosed with while still in the Square was a lot worse than first thought.
It didn’t look that great for Kat either whose last scenes showed her fighting for her life after being hit by a speedboat propeller and dragged to shore by her murderous long-lost son.
But while Kat is heading back to her roots – along with Big Mo and Jean Slater – there hasn’t been any confirmed news about Alfie heading back to Walford, even though big boss John Yorke said he would always be part of the EastEnders family.
A source recently told The Mirror: “The aim is to establish the Slaters once again as a force of strong women to be reckoned with.
“Alfie’s comeback is some way off but it was always the plan to reunite them. Who could resist a bit more Kat and Alfie?”
