Laura Whitmore reveals how she fell in love with Love Island star Iain Stirling

She's one smitten kitten!

Laura Whitmore has spoken for the first time about how she and Scottish comedian Iain Stirling met and fell in love.

The Irish presenter has enjoyed a low key romance with Iain, best known for being the voiceover guy from Love Island, since meeting and becoming friends last year.

Contrary to the rumour Caroline Flack introduced Iain to Laura, they became friends after meeting by chance at the Children’s BAFTAs.

I’m a Celeb’s Extra Camp presenter Laura, 32, told the Mail Online: “So we were just mates, and we were friendly for a while before it developed into something more, but we didn’t tell anyone for ages.

“Again, you don’t really know until you decide and you don’t want everyone knowing your business so we decided to keep it quiet as much as possible.”

Laura admitted their relationship didn’t happen in a whirlwind way, because they were both so busy with work commitments which kept them apart.

She said: “It’s quite hard when you’re back and forth and you try and see each other as much as you can. It was slowly, it wasn’t a rush. It was a slowly developing thing.”

Laura, eventually confirmed rumours she and Iain were a couple in August last year, ending months of speculation.

In January she posted a heartfelt message to Iain telling him: “I’m proud you’re mine.”

She told The Sun newspaper: “Yeah he’s my boyfriend. He’s lovely. I’ve got him as my screensaver.”

But with filming of Survival of the Fittest, which starts tomorrow on ITV, she’s preparing to spend Valentine’s Day this week away from her quick-witted, lovely boyfriend.

But she insists they talk MORE when they’re apart so it’s not all bad.

She told The Mirror: “Last year he was away in Majorca with Love Island and I was away doing a play for six months.

“Now I am away in South Africa and he is doing a stand up tour so we probably talk more because we make that time to FaceTime or call.

“If you are in the same house sometimes you don’t have that proper conversation. Sometimes I think being away is good because you end up talking more. And you know if you miss them it is a good sign.”

The show is a boys versus girls endurance-based reality show in which contestants are able to date rival team members, testing their loyalty to their team-mates to the limits.

Survival of the Fittest starts Sunday at 9pm on ITV2.
